Bayern Munich beat Juventus 2-1

LONDON, Oct. 18 - Bayern Munich maintained their 100 percent record with an impressive 2-1 win over Juventus on Tuesday.


         
Bayern Munich produced an awesome display to dismiss Juventus 2-1 to take charge of Group A at the UEFA Champions League.    

First half goals from Sebastien Deisler and Martin Demichelis were enough to give Bayern the win although they were made tosweat after Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled a goal back in the dying seconds.

Deisler broke the deadlock on 32 minutes, but it was moment to forget for Juventus goalkeeper Christian Abbiati as he somehow let the German's shot slip past him and into the net.

Bayern doubled their lead seven minutes later when Demichelis capitalised on some slack Juventus marking to head home Deisler'scorner.

Juventus pulled a goal back through Ibrahimovic in the final minute, but Bayern held on for the win to take control of Group A.

      
Manchester United were held to disappointing goalless draw at home to Lille.   



Thierry Henry marked his return from injury with both goals in Arsenal's 2-0 win at Sparta Prague to become the club's new all-time top scorer, while Manchester United were held to disappointing goalless draw at home to Lille with Paul Scholes seeing red for the hosts.

Henry, who has been missing for a month with a groin problem,was forced into action early after an injury to Jose Antonio Reyes.

The Frenchman took only six minutes to mark his return in style by opening the scoring with a superb shot from the edge of thearea to equal Ian Wright's Arsenal record of 185 goals.Henry then overtook Wright by adding his second goal of thenight on 74 minutes to seal Arsenal's win and maintain their 100 percent record in Group B.

In the other game in Group B Ajax picked up their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 success over FC Thun.

Yannis Anastasiou was the hero for Dutch side scoring two goals.

The Greek ace opened the scoring on 36 minutes and he grabbed his second on 55 minutes to seal the win for Ajax.

Manchester United endured a frustrating night at Old Traffordas they were held to a goalless draw by French side Lille.

In a disappointing clash United struggled to create too many goalscoring opportunities and their misery was compounded when Paul Scholes was sent off in the second half.

Scholes was sent off for two bookable offences with his second caution coming on 63rd minute after a late tackle on Jean Macoun.In the other tie in Group D Benfica picked up a 1-1 draw with Villarreal in Spain.

Argentine ace Juan Roman Riquelme gave the home side the leadfrom the penalty spot on 73rd minute, but a superb goal from Manuel Fernandes earned the Portuguese champions a point.Club Brugge recorded their first win in Group A with a narrow 1-0 victory over Rapid Vienna.

      
Barcelona lost their 100 percent start in Group C after they were held to a disappointing goalless draw by Panathinaikos in Greece.

Werder Bremen picked up their first point with a 1-1 draw at Udinese.
