Body Mass Index Calculator:

The body mass index (BMI) is an approximate measure of body fat. It is based on your height and weight. A BMI between 19 and 25 is considered a normal amount of body fat. If someone's BMI is 25 to 29.9, that person is said to be overweight. A person is said to be obese if his or her BMI is 30 or higher. The higher your BMI, the greater your risk for diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and certain cancers. If you are concerned about your BMI or just want more information, talk with your family doctor.

 BMI=hieght(cm)/wieght(m)²

DRY MOUTH:
Quite simply, dry mouth is a condition in which you do not have enough saliva (or spit) to keep your mouth wet.

This happens when the glands in the mouth that make saliva do not work correctly. There are a number of reasons why these glands may fail to work properly. These include medication side effects, illness, nerve damage, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

Symptoms of dry mouth include:

Dry, sticky, and/or burning feelings in the mouth
Dry throat, tongue, and/or lips
Difficulties with chewing, swallowing, tasting, and/or speaking
Sores and/or infection in the mouth

What can you do about dry mouth on your own?

Keep water and sugarless drinks available to sip regulary.
During meals, also sip water or sugarless drinks to help with chewing and swallowing.
Sugarless gum or hard candy can stimulate saliva flow.
Use a humidifier while sleeping.
Caffeine, tobacco and alcohol all dry out the mouth. Consider avoiding these.
Spicy and salty foods may cause pain if you have dry mouth.
Take care of your teeth! Because dry mouth increases the risk of tooth decay, you will want to take good care of your teeth and mouth:
Brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily.
Use a toothpaste with flouride.
See your dentist twice a year.
Avoid sugary foods (particularly sticky ones). If you do eat them, brush your teeth afterwards.

STOMACH PAIN :

Although a stomachache may simply be the result of eating too much or too quickly, or mixing incompatible foods, it can also signal a more serious problem, from an infection to appendicitis. An abdominal infection (or inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. It causes stomach upset, diarrhea, sudden abdominal cramping, and fever. The only thing your doctor can do is prescribe suppositories to stop the vomiting, and advise that you rest.

Food poisoning, such as salmonella, has the same symptoms as a virus, but with a higher fever, doctors recommend antidiarrheal medicine and a diet of bananas, rice, and toast.

A peptic ulcer will cause pain and indigestion that won't respond to changes in diet (avoiding chili peppers, for example) or taking antacids.

If abdominal pain is intense and occurs under the right rib cage, it's most likely due to gallstones,If the gallbladder becomes infected, there may also be fever and nausea.Gallstones can be caused by hereditary factors or a high-fat diet, and are also common after pregnancy. "If you've had a baby within the previous year and you're having pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, figure it's a gallbladder problem until proven otherwise.

One potentially serious cause of abdominal pain is an intestinal obstruction. This can be caused by adhesions from prior pelvic or abdominal surgery, appendicitis, or a growth. Along with severe abdominal pain, the symptoms of an obstruction are vomiting, fever, and the inability to have a bowel movement. Appendicitis has some of the same symptoms as an obstruction, but the pain may localize over time to the right lower quadrant of the abdomen.

salam,

I was not around brother Imran that doesnt mean that Iam ....

 :E
brother Bijjar I apologize from you I was busy with my real patients
my explanation to you :

In men, loss of hair all over the scalp is well known, and is particularly recognized by loss of hair at the crown of the head. In view of this kind of hair loss as compared to women, it must be asserted that there are two possible causes. These include DHT and the arrangement of hair follicles in men and women.
1.
To begin with, hair follicle arrangement in men is such that it allows an accumulation of sebaceous substances secreted by the sebaceous gland near each follicle.
Since the follicle is perpendicular in its arrangement, its position suits accumulation and not draining off that occurs with female follicles. The reason why female follicles do not support accumulation of sebaceous substances is because the angle that each female hair follicle makes with the scalp is much less than male follicles.

Since the follicles in the male scalp allow accumulation of sebaceous substances it gets clogged. Clogging disrupts proper growth of the hair, and since this may take place in a number of hair follicles at one time hair growth is considerable stunted. In men, this appears to be a problem, as males anywhere in their late teens to their forties may suffer from stunted hair growth. In contrast to this, women do not suffer from this condition.

2.
An enzyme in the body is responsible for converting testosterone to DHT. It is DHT that is the chief cause of hair loss in men. In women this is not much of a problem because of the hormonal difference between the two sexes.

DHT is believed to be responsible for what is known as male pattern baldness. It is said that anywhere between the ages of 19 and 40 DHT may begin acting on a male’s scalp causing hair thinning as well as hair loss. Means of fighting DHT have been devised in the form of particular prescription drugs.
3.
Baldness occurs not through heredity, nor as a result of the effects of testosterone on the hair follicles in the target zone. Rather it is caused because of: poor blood flow to the scalp (from a number of causes) insufficient nutrients in the blood and poor drainage of waste products through the lymphatic systems.

Other factors such as mechanical irritation (washing, combing of hair, wearing a helmet, etc.) stress, lack of vitamins or minerals or undue influences of the weather are no cause, but only trigger male pattern baldness.

THE FOLLOWING  MEDICATIONS ALSO CAUSE HAIR LOSS :
Cholesterol-lowering drug:

clofibrate (Atromis-S) and gemfibrozil (Lopid)

Parkinson Medications:

levodopa (Dopar, Larodopa)

Ulcer drugs:

cimetidine (Tagamet), ranitidine (Zantac) and famotidine (Pepcid)

Anticoagulents:

Coumarin and Heparin

Agents for gout:

Allopurinol (Loporin, Zyloprim)

Antiarthritics:

penicillamine, auranofin (Ridaura), indomethacin (i\Indocin), naproxen (Naprosyn), sulindac (Clinoril), and methotrexate (Folex)

Drugs derived from vitamin-A:

isotretinoin (Accutane) and etretinate (Tegison)

Anticonvulsants for epilepsy:

trimethadione (Tridione)

Antidepressants:

tricyclics, amphetamines

Beta blocker drugs for high blood pressure:

atenolol (Tenormin), metoprolol (Lopressor), nadolol (Corgard), propranolol (Inderal) and timolol (Blocadren)

Antithyroid agents:

carbimazole, Iodine, thiocyanate, thiouracil

Others:

Blood thinners, male hormones (anabolic steroids)[/size]

I will find out for you the ways of preventing hair loss and treatment of hair loss

Braat Bijjar -o-Imran:
Zindag baate:

sar-e-mudde rechage dawa wa shumaraa mahe gohaar student daan' bale right now i would like to share a nuskha (prescription) I got from my brother and personally get best output.

From herbal medical store at Aaraam baagh Karachi buy these two oils in equal quantity ie. If you get one oil in 100 ml and second one is 50 ml then buy second one's another bottle so that both will be in same ratio:

Roughan-e-Laboob-e-saba
Roughan-e-Gesoo daraaz
(Made by Hakeem teHseen or Qarshii laboratory)

Take another bottle and mix-up both oil in once and shake well.
Now daily at night massage your skull with fingertips around 10-20 minutes.
Don’t rub or maalish like pahlvaan do :)

Consistency of this therapy will give you best results within 30-90 days.
---------
One another Nuskhah I got from Sunnat-e-nabvii book with guarantee of hair reformation. :

Add Pure Antimony (Sirmog or Surmag in Baluchi / aaNkhooN ka surmaa in Urdu) in olive Oil (zetoon ka tail) and boil it till quantity of oil become reduce.
Save the mixture in a bottle and daily at night massage your skull with fingertips around 10-20 minutes. Same as above you will get 100 % results within 15 to 90 days.

We women are so conscious about using of oil in daily bases, which is not good for hair health :) so brother don’t be conscious.

Along with this therapy increase your diet too.
Add one or two glass of milk and egg (specially outer shell) in your daily nutrition.

Well-wisher
Yours sister
Raji

SIS Solmaaz :

We have to see the underlying cause of your cough .If it is aviral then you have to continue using these cough syrups to treat the symptoms only BUT in your case I think it is abacterial infection and you need to see your doctor to prescribe antibiotics for you  .REMEMBER,you have to finish the antibiotic cycle as the doctor tells you because if you didnt ,the infection will occur again and will be more stronger .You may be asked to do lung x-ray ,if there is an abnormal breath sounds during auscultation.

Dont worry this is an acute cough that is going to be relieved and we call it a chronic cough if the patient have ahistory of cough that exceeds 3 months .

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed and getting to the
patient within 3 hours which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victimmay suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the
symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three
simple questions:

1. *Ask the individual to SMILE.

2. *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
3. *Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. . It is sunny out today) If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call emergency immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.

Overview of Nose bleed

Most people eventually experience a nos*bleed. It is often caused by trauma or inflammation from a respiratory infection. Most nose bleeds in young adults and children begin in the nasal septum, the cartilage that separate the nasal cavity in two. Older people may have bleeding from deeper in the nasal cavity, where it is more difficult to stop. Nose bleeds are more common in children than in adults.

Causes of Nose bleed

Nose bleeds occur from trauam, such as injuries or nose picking. Nasal or sinus infections can lead to nose bleeds. A foreign body in the nose can produce nose bleeds. Some infections, such as scarlet fever, malaria and typhoid fever have nose bleeds associated with them. Severe hypertension may produce repeated nose bleeds. Dry climate, such as might occur in the desert or at high altitudes, may produce nose bleeds. Disease that affect the ability of the body to clot may produce recurrent nose bleeds. Conditions which can be implicated in this situation include aplastic anemia, leukemia, hemophilia, thrombocytopenia and liver disease.

Signs and Symptoms of Nose bleed

Nose bleeds produce varying amount of bleeding from the nasal cavity. Blood may pass into the throat. If there is severe blood loss, anemia will develop with shortness of breath, lightheadedness, rapid heart rate and pallor. If the blood is aspirated into the lungs, cough may develop. In substantial amounts of blood are swallowed, there may be vomiting of blood and black, tarry stools. Recurrent nose bleeds can sometimes be an indication of some type of problem with the coagulation system.
