Is it a Baluchi traditional dance by any way?
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:36:16 AM »
Greetings to all baasks,

I am here with you after a long time hope you are dong well.

Dears, for couple of weeks I am visiting you tube and other music hosting sites for baluchi audio and video songs.

Its nice to see bunch of Baluchi audio and video clips at online sites but I am really very shocked to see African style break dance in almost every second baluchi cultural songs.

I am continue trying to recall my last two or three visits of East and West Balochistan but could not get a single imagination of this African style break dance in my memory.

I am v. confused to think if this is not a real baluchi tradition then why Baloch specially people of Makkuran are not doing any kind of objection on making this type of videos?

Please don’t mind if I m pointed out people of makkuran because Naseer Baloch, Arif Baloch, Muslim Hammal and other well-known singers belongs to Makkuran and I found above-mentioned dancing in their video.

Few clips are attached herewith this post.

Please forgive me if I hurt you by any way.

Regards,
Maahal Baloch

I think the video clips tht u have posted are from some older albums of Naseer Baloch.. When this trend or medium of balochi video albums started from lyari... many of these professional dancer participated in the making of these videos..

Ppl did objected on these dancers.. using whtever form or style.. and eventually you wont find these dancers in new albums of all singers....

Now the original question whether the dance form picturised in these videos are traditional balochi cultural dance or not....

I think the answer is "NO" if u consider balochi culture as culture of north or northeastern balochistan...  Bt it is fact tht makuran with a coastal belt of 750 km has some relationship or influence from Oman and zanjbar (africa).. dance or music like Liwa is still famous in lyari.. it was there in gwadar also i remember sometimes back bt eventually vanished.....

Bt v need to realise one thing that one artist doing an experiment with a video should not be considered a culture.. even in case of makuran too....

If v see the artist ( fist clip u provided) known as Ibrahim Lachak :P .. all the dance steps he performs r Hindi steps.. tht has no relationship with Balochi really...

I hope i have answered ur question:)

its not Balochi dance, Gwadari u r right now they r not in videos. Baloch have forgotton their original dance what they used to perform in marriages. Where is dou chapi, sword dance amd other Balochi dances, who is responsible for this, Our artist, all Baloch nation or government r new technology?
